In the tanning sector, technological development tends towards
innovative processes aimed at minimizing the environmental impact without compromising the characteristics of the leathers. In fact, leather, a by-product of the livestock industry, is used and processed avoiding that the hides are translated into waste and are treated as “special waste“.

The leather used for the production of the product destined for sale also inevitably generates a significant physiological percentage of waste due to intrinsic defects and its geometric shape; waste destined for landfill with obvious and tangible repercussions. In Ellegi, thanks to forty years of experience, we have decided to pursue the virtuous objectives of the circular economy by applying innovative strategies in the leather processing and transformation phases.

Thanks to our method, which combines innovative production techniques and attention to detail typical of the artisan workshop, customers obtain a top-of-the-range product that guarantees maximum performance by reducing waste and minimizing the environmental impact. The benefits affect the entire production and processing chain.

We have innovatively engineered the cutting techniques to allow us to provide our customers with a product in the desired shape and size, effectively eliminating waste, a variable that significantly affects the entire cycle. By avoiding processing that part of the leather that will surely end up in landfills, as well as significantly reducing waste, we obtain a certain economic saving for the customer both in terms of leathers used and in terms of landfill.

I think having land and not ruining it is the most beautiful art that anybody could ever want.
